5 insane Star Wars plot lines floating around the Internet

The new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released today and it gives the franchise’s enormous fanbase some concrete ideas about what to expect in the film.

The script has been heavily guarded by director J.J. Abrams and the Lucasfilm crew, so there are few solid details about what might be featured in the movie.

The intergalactic information void hasn’t stopped fans from engaging in wild speculation, however.

Here are some of the crazier theories — which could be true or untrue — floating around on the Internet.

1. Luke is the bad guy

Luke Skywalker, the hero and savior of the beloved original trilogy, is rumored to have switched sides in the three decades between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.

2. The first shot of the movie will be of Luke’s severed hand

Star Wars is well-known for the breathtaking sequences that take place right after its famous opening crawls. Could this rumored opening shot join the ranks?

3. The soccer ball droid has plans to another super weapon

A small droid carries the “technical readouts” of a huge, planet-shattering machine that could spell doom for the galaxy. Hmmm, where have we heard that before?

4. In a galaxy of trillions of people, somehow, everyone is related

The new characters Rey
