A Florida man just got 2.5 years in prison for having sex on the beach
Listen up, Florida men: if you have sex on the beach and are caught on camera, you are probably going to jail, no matter how many times you pretend that your sex partner was just “dancing.”
Jose Caballero, 40, was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison today for an X-rated beach frolic he had with Elissa Alvarez, 21, last July. Both Caballero and Alvarez will both have to register as sex offenders for their mischief, which involved copulating on a crowded beach, in the middle of the day, in front of a four-year-old. They were both found guilty of lewd and lascivious exhibition in front of a child back in May. During the trial, the prosecutor said the act had several witnesses. Plus, there’s a video. The defense, for their part, pointed out that the couple could have been doing anything! Like maybe she was dancing on him. The couple even declined multiple plea deals.
The prosecutor’s reaction was: “It’s insulting your intelligence to say that she was dancing,” per the Huffington Post. Sounds about right.
Two-and-a-half years is a relatively light sentence for Caballero, who previously served eight years on drug-related charges and was looking at up to 15 years in prison. Alvarez was sentenced with time served, and is free to go.
