Actor Paul Walker Has Died

Actor Paul Walker, best known for his turn as Brian O’Connor in the Fast and Furious movie series, has died at age 40, ABC News confirmed with his rep.

“Sadly I must confirm that Paul did pass away this afternoon,” the representative, Ame van Iden, wrote in an e-mail to ABC.

Van Iden confirmed the cause of death was a car crash, but declined to give ABC further details. However, TMZ has reported that Walker died in a car crash in Santa Clarita Valley, in Southern California. Meanwhile, the Santa Clarita Valley Sherriff’s Station confirmed to US Weekly that there had been two fatalities in a car accident there earlier this afternoon.

Paul Walker’s official Twitter account, at @RealPaulWalker, also posted a tweet Saturday night announcing his death, linking to a longer statement on his official Facebook page.
