Avenatti Still Considering Running for President Even After Domestic Violence Arrest

Stormy Daniels’ lawyer Michael Avenatti is “still considering” a presidential run even after his arrest this week on suspicion of domestic violence, he told USA Today on Thursday night.

“I will not be intimidated,” Avenatti told the paper in a text message. “The measure of a person is how they get up when they are knocked down.

“I’m still considering [a run],” he said of the presidential run he’s been hinting at for months. But, he added, his “first priority right now is clearing my name.”

Hours after his arrest, Avenatti posted $50,000 bail and was released from jail in Los Angeles. His arrest for suspected domestic violence was originally reported by TMZ and confirmed by the LAPD. Avenatti denies injuring a woman during a fight.

Avenatti tweeted after his release that he isn’t being charged for any crimes. “I have never struck a woman. I will never strike a woman,” he told reporters, calling himself an “advocate” for women’s rights.

The LAPD said that Avenatti’s alleged victim had “visible injuries,” but they did not release her identity.

On Twitter, Avenatti appeared to blame Jacob Wohl for the arrest. Wohl, a failed teenage hedge fund investor, was involved in an attempt to frame Special Counsel Robert Mueller for sexual assault, a scheme that quickly blew up in his face.

“First Mueller and now me. When we are fully exonerated I am coming for you Jacob Wohl,” Avenatti wrote.
