Bernie Sanders resoundingly defeats Hillary Clinton in three-state sweep
Bernie Sanders sailed to landslide victories in the Washington, Alaska and Hawaii caucuses on Saturday, giving him some much-needed wins in his uphill climb against Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton.
Sanders beat Clinton by huge margins in each state. He won Alaska 82-18, Hawaii 70-30, and Washington 73-27.
Caucuses have proven to be extremely favorable territory for Sanders; he has fared less well in primaries. Nevertheless, his crushing victories on Saturday provided a reminder that, as much as Clinton may appear to be headed towards the Democratic nomination, Sanders can still pack a punch.
“We are making significant inroads into Secretary Clinton’s lead, and we have…a path toward victory,” he told a rapturous crowd in Wisconsin, where the next primary is being held on April 5.
