Billy Corgan is really digging Donald Trump's presidential campaign
Despite all his rage, Billy Corgan is still not a political sage.
Corgan, noted cat lover and frontman of The Smashing Pumpkins, is psyched that Donald Trump is “running Chaos Theory” with his campaign.
“It’s like the music business, everybody gets it controlled and somebody comes along and fucks it all up.” Corgan says at a V.I.P chat in Cincinnati on August 8, in a video posted by Alternative nation. Corgan also says he doesn’t agree with Trump politically, and adds “I think it’s good that he’s fucking it up, because whether or not he’s the guy, obviously the political class doesn’t want him there, it’ll open it up to a bigger dialog.”
Corgan has a history of…uh…interesting political views. He’s expressed admiration for conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and appeared on Jones’s show before, where Salon explains that he said Infowars could get more spiritual and called television “very anti-family.”
Personally, I hope to hear more of Corgan’s political ruminations on the new album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Election Cycle. Before we go, though, let’s look at one more quote from the video:
At this point is there any difference between politics and entertainment? Is there any difference at this point between music and entertainment? I don’t think there’s any difference any more.”
Did the Corgan 2020 campaign just start? Let’s speculate wildly!
