Black, Latino Churchgoers Weigh in on ‘White Jesus’ Controversy

Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly started a controversy last week when she said both Jesus Christ and Santa Claus are white men. She’s since clarified her statements and said she was being sarcastic, but the conversation is far from settled.

“For all you kids watching at home, Santa just is white,” the popular news host told viewers of “The Kelly File.”

“Just because it makes you feel uncomfortable doesn’t mean it has to change. You know, I mean, Jesus was a white man, too,” Kelly went on to say.

On Monday Kelly said her comment was meant to be a tongue-in-cheek message. So the “Open Source” team thought who better to weigh in on this discussion than black and Latino churchgoers in Los Angeles.

We visited the First AME Church, which is the first church founded by African Americans in the city of angels. We also interviewed Latino Catholics at the historic Our Lady Queens of Angels church that was founded in 1814.
