BYU Basketball's Epic, White Pump-up Video

What happens when you give Brigham Young University’s basketball team a DSLR and iMovie? Greatness, that’s what. The team released the gem you see below last Friday in preparation for this Saturday’s game against Colorado University.

Where should I start?

First, song choice. FACT: Nothing says “GET YOUR HEAD IN THE GAME!” like some Peter Cetera and “You’re The Inspiration.” Then again, considering they made the Final Four last year, maybe they’re on to something. Also, the video allows the young men to finally fulfill the universal dream of lip syncing while clenching their hands to their heart and closing their eyes (a trend popularized, if I’m not mistaken, by the Backstreet Boys).

Also, definitely need to give a shout out to the editing here. Cross dissolves are secondary to the stellar star transition at the 40-second mark. Serious quality work there. The subtle transition between Chicago and Justin Timberlake at the end is pleasing to the ears in the same way that Natalie Portman’s character enjoyed ripping off her nail in The Black Swan.

Good job, good effort.
