Canada becomes more attractive as it considers gender-neutral IDs
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Monday that is considering introducing gender-neutral identity cards.
“That’s part of the great arc of history sweeping towards justice,” said Trudeau. He didn’t give any specifics, but said the government is exploring the “best way” to move forward.
Trudeau made the announcement on a Canadian television program just hours after he made history as the first Canadian Prime Minister to march in the Pride parade.
Ontario announced last week it would allow X to be listed as a gender on driver’s licenses. Australia, New Zealand and Nepal all allow X as a gender designation.
