Check out these two bold protests in solidarity with Standing Rock water protectors over the last 24 hours

Activists standing in solidarity with the water protectors of Standing Rock caused a stir this weekend at a NFL game in Minneapolis, hanging a huge sign from the ceiling that read “DIVEST #NoDAPL” with a US Bank logo.

“We are here in solidarity with water protectors from Standing Rock to urge U.S. Bank to divest from the Dakota Access Pipeline,” the activists explained in a statement. They began the protest in the second quarter of the game featuring the Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Bears, unfurling the banner, which remained there until after fans left the stadium.

Both activists were charged with burglary and trespassing according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. The banner did not impact the game, but some seats below were cleared. Those organizing yesterday’s protest said US Bank has “tens of millions of dollars in credit lines active with the pipeline’s parent company,” according to The Guardian.

“The pipeline’s route violates treaty rights of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe and poses a significant threat drinking water and the health of the Missouri river,” organizers said in a statement.

The banner isn’t the only recent football-related #NoDAPL protest. Activists also marched during the Rose Parade in Pasadena behind the last float this afternoon in solidarity with the water protectors.

While the Army Corps of Engineers has temporarily stopped pipeline construction in a major win for water protectors, the fight is far from over. President-elect Donald Trump supports the pipeline and at one point owned shares in the company building it.
