Dick Durbin Finally Got Brett Kavanaugh to Shut the Fuck Up
After a furious opening statement and angry, combative exchanges with Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Patrick Leahy, a Democrat finally got Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh to shut his weepy, entitled ass up.
Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois challenged Kavanaugh on consenting to an FBI investigation which would bring in other witnesses. “Right now, turn to your left in the front row to Don McGahn, counsel to President Donald Trump,” Durbin said. “Ask him to suspend this hearing and nomination process until the FBI completes its investigation of the charges of Dr. Ford and others, and goes to bring the other witnesses forward and provides that information to this hearing…let’s bring them in here and now.”
After an interjection by Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley stressing that he wasn’t going to suspend the hearing, Durbin reiterated his insistence that Kavanaugh should ask the White House for an FBI investigation. (Only President Trump can order that.)
“I welcome whatever the committee wants to do because I’m telling the truth,” Kavanaugh replied. “I want to know what you want to do, Judge!” Durbin shot back.
“I’m innocent, I’m innocent of this charge,” Kavanaugh said, saying that the FBI isn’t the one that draws conclusions.
“Why would you resist that kind of investigation?” Durbin asked Kavanaugh. Kavanaugh repeated that he would do whatever the committee wanted, and finally Durbin asked him: “Personally, do you think [an FBI investigation is] the best thing for us to do?”
Kavanaugh sat back in his chair and went dead silent.
“You won’t answer?” Durbin asked.
“Look Senator, I-I-I’ve said I wanted a hearing, and I said I would welcome anything,” Kavaanaugh stammered. “I’m innocent, this thing was held when it could have been presented in an ordinary way, it could have been handled confidentially at first, which was what Dr. Ford’s wishes were as I understand it. It wouldn’t have destroyed my family like this effort has.”
“I think an FBI investigation will help all of us on both sides of this issue,” Durbin responded.
Soon after, Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham shifted gears with an unhinged rant about the hearing.
“This is not a job interview,” Graham snarled. “This is hell.”
