Do NOT Ask Nancy Pelosi About Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez OK???

Nancy Pelosi made it abundantly clear on Thursday that she is still pissed about the primary defeat of her staunch ally Joe Crowley.

At Pelosi’s weekly press conference, the first two questions were all about everyone’s favorite Democrat of the week, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who stunned the political world by beating Crowley, a member of the Democratic leadership in the House. Reporters wanted to know how Pelosi plans to deal with the mood of change brought upon by young progressives like Ocasio-Cortez.

“How do you feel that the DCCC should address candidates who aren’t willing to support the current leadership?” a reporter asked.

Pelosi wasn’t having it.

“Can we talk about the subject—I’ll get to politics, but [Republicans are] undermining the Constitution of the United States,” she said.

When a second reporter began to ask a similar question—referencing a party base moving to the left—Pelosi promptly cut her off.

“OK. Hold a minute. But I’m not going to politics,” she said. “Does anybody have any question about the serious matters of the day…does anybody have a substantive question?”

Translation: does anyone have a question that I want to answer?

Pelosi has been stewing about this for days. At a news conference on Wednesday, she was quick to dismiss the significance of Ocasio-Cortez’s win.

“They made a choice in one district,” Pelosi said. “So let’s not get yourself carried away as an expert on demographics and the rest of that within the caucus or outside the caucus.”

Update, 6:04 PM: Joe Perticone and Kelsey Snell, the reporters who had their questions batted away by Pelosi, tweeted to say that she eventually answered their questions at the end of the briefing.
