Donald Trump Wonders What That Whole Civil War Thing Was All About

Noted historian Donald Trump shared some fascinating thoughts about the Civil War during a recent interview on SiriusXM with writer Salena Zito.

While praising genocidal tyrant Andrew Jackson, Trump suddenly mused that Jackson could have stopped the Civil War from happening if he’d just lived long enough, and that he was “really angry” about the development of the war. (Jackson, by the way, was extremely into slavery and died decades before the war happened.)

He also had this to say:

People don’t realize, you know, the Civil War, you think about it, why? People don’t ask that question, but why was there the Civil War? Why could that one not be worked out?

Yeah, why not?! What was that all about?

Nobody ever pondered—or even attempted to answer!—the question of why the Civil War happened until Donald Trump. (Hint: slavery!) And people certainly did not wonder why the Union and the Confederacy couldn’t have just come to some amicable arrangement about that whole slavery thing.

If Frederick Douglass wasn’t alive and making such a fine contribution to society, he’d have a lot to say about this.
