Don't Believe the Conservative Hype: Undocumented People Living and Working in the U.S. Pay Billions in Taxes

Every year, undocumented immigrants pay around $13 billion dollars into the U.S. Retirement Fund but receive only about $1 billion in benefits. And that’s just one way in which undocumented people living and working in this country benefit us all by paying their taxes but don’t get to reap the same rewards as citizens.

So why pay into a system that isn’t designed to benefit you at all? As one undocumented immigrant explained to Splinter: “That’s the duty of people in America.”
