Ex-Fox News Ghoul Reportedly Set to Become White House Communications Director

Former Fox News executive Bill Shine is likely to become the next White House communications director, according to multiple reports. The New York Times wrote that Trump has offered Shine the job, but no official announcement has been made yet.

You may remember Shine as the right hand man of the late Roger Ailes, the former Fox News CEO who was ousted for making many, many “unwanted sexual advances” towards multiple women. Shine himself resigned as Fox News co-president in May of last year amid reports that he helped cover up sexual harassment scandals at the network. Several women accused Shine of ignoring reports of sexual harassment, hacking electronic devices for spying purposes and pressuring women to let Ailes’ behavior go unpunished. (He denied the claims.)

In recent months, Shine was spotted with Trump and Hannity at the president’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, Politico reported.

In response to comments that they will face backlash for appointing someone with Shine’s history, officials at the White House said “they believe they can weather it,” according to the Times.

The job has been vacant since Hope Hicks left in March. If Shine takes it up, he will become the fourth communications director for Trump.

Shine’s reported entry into the White House will form yet another link between Trump and Fox News. Not only is the president best pals with anchors and hosts like Sean Hannity, but his son Don Jr. is also still dating Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle. Trump just can’t get enough of his favorite TV network.
