Florida man high on flakka tries to break into 5 homes while fleeing 'secret federal government'

Today in flakka, via the Sun-Sentinel:

Anthony Demps, 24, was arrested Sunday after attempting to break into five different homes north of Ft. Lauderdale.

His stated reason: he was fleeing a “secret federal government” that was preventing him from seeing his daughter.

Demps, who told authorities he’s homeless, said he’d been smoking flakka since the previous night.

The situation began to unfold when Demps tried–and failed–to break in to an apartment at 116 Lake Emerald Drive around 8:30 a.m., the report stated.

He then scaled upward toward an apartment on the second story of the building, deputies said.

A woman who lives at that unit saw Demps trying to get into the patio and screamed at him. Demps jumped from the second story patio to the ground and ran, and the victims called the police, deputies said.

Demps’ bond was set at $300,000.

Flakka use has soared in 2015 thanks to its ease at being procured online and its incredibly low price, with hits selling for as little as $3 on the street.

According to Reuters, synthetic drug seizures—almost all of which were flakka—comprised 34 percent of Broward County’s crime lab reports in the first three months of 2015, overtaking cocaine.
