For Puerto Ricans, the Holidays Are a Reminder That the Lights Are Still Off

Most people associate the holiday season with twinkling lights. But months after Hurricane Maria slammed into Puerto Rico, tens of thousands of people on the Island are still living without electricity. In the town of Morovis, for example, 90% of the residents haven’t received any federal aid in the 90 days since the hurricane. But that hasn’t stopped Puerto Ricans from embracing the holidays in spite of the challenges.
