Fortune Cookie Factory Worker Dies In Industrial Mixer

A 26-year-old employee died inside an industrial dough mixing machine at a fortune cookie factory in Houston, Texas last weekend.

“The victim, an employee of the Wonton Food Corporation at [2902 Caroline Street], was operating an industrial dough mixer. A fellow employee found the man deceased in the machine,” police said in a statement to the Houston Press.

“Investigators say the man had been operating an industrial dough mixer when another worker discovered his body Sunday afternoon in the machine,” the AP reported. The man’s body, which has not yet been identified, was found by another worker in the plan on Sunday. The Harris County forensics lab is still verifying the man’s identity and performing an autopsy.

The factory, Wonton Food Inc., is one of the largest fortune cookie producers in the world, and uses the name Golden Bowl on its products. The company has a larger factory and its company headquarters in Brooklyn, as well as a factory in Nashville, Tenn. In addition to fortune cookies, Wonton Food also produces noodles, crispy noodles, egg roll wrappers and bean sprouts.

Fusion reached out to Wonton Food Inc. and the Houston Police Department for information and is awaiting response.
