George W. Bush Pops Up to Confirm He's Still the Worst

In an EXCLUSIVE comment to Politico on Tuesday, former President George W. Bush confirmed he still supports the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh, even after Christine Blasey Ford came forward and accused Kavanaugh of attempting to rape her when she was 15 and he was 17.

Per the site:

Bush told POLITICO in a statement: “Laura and I have known and respected Brett Kavanaugh for decades, and we stand by our comments the night Judge Kavanaugh was nominated.”

The former president had previously said of Kavanaugh: “He is a fine husband, father, and friend – and a man of the highest integrity. He will make a superb Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.”

Blah, blah. Same bullshit they’re all saying. Man of Integrity could not possibly have assaulted a woman; if he appears to have Integrity to me, another Integrity Man, it’s safe to assume the woman is lying, because Integrity Men are never wrong.

This follows last week’s news that Bush, despite his supposed opposition to Trump, would be hitting the road to fundraise for House and Senate Republicans, whose jobs are to help pass and protect Trump’s agenda and who have so far dedicated themselves almost completely to inoculating Trump’s ethically and morally bankrupt presidency from any consequences.

There has been a bizarre impulse since Trump became president to rehabilitate George W. Bush—to say, at least he has integrity (wrong!), or is a Good Man (haha), or was a true leader (meaningless), even to chuckle when he shares a cough drop with Michelle Obama. A majority of Democrats now have a favorable view of him, the man who started the Iraq War, whose tenure saw waterboarding, Guantanamo Bay, the shameful response to Hurricane Katrina, and huge tax cuts for the rich.

Just because Bush was better—and only marginally so—at framing his horrible policies than Trump does not mean he’s worth…anything. Just because you’ve seen a picture of him talking to Barack or Michelle Obama, who you like, that doesn’t mean you should like him, too. He shouldn’t be able to show his face in public without getting booed. He was a bad president and he’s a bad person.
