Guy Uploads Video to YouTube 1,000 Times and the Result is Robotic
What happens when you upload a video to YouTube, download said video from YouTube and re-upload the same video to YouTube 1,000 times?
Well, Patrick Liddell found that the result is some horrifying robotic thing. Basically, the video becomes so distorted that all that remains is the codec of YouTube and the mp4 video files themselves. Surprisingly, YouTube and mp4 codecs sound a lot like what I imagine the devil would sound like.
Liddell wrote in the video description, “I regard this activity not so much as a demonstration of a digital fact, but more as a way to eliminate all human qualities my speech and image might have.”
According to Liddell’s blog, the process took a year from May 2009 to May 2010 because he downloaded and uploaded the 1,000 videos by hand while managing other work.
So yeah, eliminate all human qualities and you get one freakish white screen that sounds like a possessed droid. Cool.
