Here's how Black Twitter 'celebrated' Donald Trump's inauguration
Not everyone wanted to watch Donald Trump become president on Friday. Instead, some people on Twitter began using the hashtags #InaugurationBlackout, #ObamaDay, and #ByAnyMeans to do something else: talk about Barack Obama’s legacy and celebrate legendary black movies.
At 11 A.M., just as the inauguration was getting underway, Twitter users (organized by @UnitedBlack and @JamilahLemieux) began live-tweeting The Wiz . Then, at 11:30 AM, other users (organized by @AvaDuvernay and her company @ArrayNow) watched Malcolm X using the hashtag #ByAnyMeans.
The hashtag #ObamaDay was also used to tweet favorite Obama family moments, GIFS, memories and more.
Then, Barack and Michelle Obama came back to Twitter and everyone was thrilled.
