Hey, Just So You Know, Scandal Isn't Coming Back Tonight Because of Some Trump BS

So this is weird: When I checked my DVR’s scheduled recordings, the date THURSDAY, JANUARY 19 did not include the season six premiere of Scandal, a good show about Kerry Washington’s trembling chin.

As one does, I Googled. “’Scandal Season 6 Premiere Delayed,” a TV Line headline read. “—#TGIT Bumped for Trump Special.”

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….OK

(For the uninitiated, #TGIT refers to “Thank God It’s Thursday,” a clever marketing term for ABC’s Thursday night primetime lineup, which has consisted exclusively of Shonda Rhimes-created or produced series for a couple of years now. Shonda Rhimes, you’ll remember, is the most acclaimed and prolific black woman working in television today.)

So what’re we getting instead of Scandal (and Grey’s Anatomy and How to Get Away With Murder)? A one-hour 20/20 special called, America’s First Family: The Trumps Go to Washington.

Interesting.

“It was a very hard call. Believe me,” Channing Dungey, the president of ABC Entertainment, told TVLine. “Nobody else has been waiting for it bigger than me.”

Channing, no.
