Hillary Clinton spokesman tweets at Donald Trump: 'Go f**k yourself'
While Donald Trump has leveled unprecedented attacks on Muslims, women, immigrants, and the personal lives of his political enemies, Hillary Clinton and her campaign have maintained remarkable calm and message discipline, at times referring back to Michelle Obama’s now-famous line—”When they go low, we go high”—to justify remaining above the fray.
Which is why it’s surprising that midway through Sunday night’s presidential debate, Clinton foreign policy spokesman Jesse Lehrich seemed to crack. After Trump remarked that Captain Humayun Khan, a Muslim-American soldier who was killed in the line of duty in Iraq, “would be alive” if he had been president, Lehrich tweeted:
Ten minutes later, Lehrich tweeted again, apologizing for the first tweet:
Whoops. Normally, a campaign staffer tweeting obscenities at his boss’s opponent would be a gaffe, but in the midst of tonight’s insane, unhinged debate, it barely registers as unkind.
