I Guess This Guy Is Just Gonna Roast His Republican Congressman Dad on Twitter All Week
I’ll admit that I don’t know much about Bobby Goodlatte, except that his father is old white Virginia Republican congressman Bob Goodlatte, and—per his Twitter bio—he’s a “product designer & angel investor.” That said, based on his tweets over the past few days, I’m ready to call it and say that Bobby Goodlatte is, in fact, an extremely good adult son.
On Sunday, Bobby tweeted to his 33,ooo followers that he’d donated the maximum amount campaign contribution allowed by the FEC to Jennifer Lewis, a Democrat running to fill his father’s soon-to-be-vacated congressional seat this coming November.
“Wow, awkward,” you probably think, but Bobby wasn’t finished. Upon hearing that former FBI agent Peter Strzok had just been unceremoniously fired by the agency following a contentious House hearing his father just so happened to chair/screw up, Goodlatte decided to try to redeem his family name by criticizing his own father’s “political grandstanding”:
Yes, kind of corny, but when it comes to “children of Republican members of Congress roasting their parents on Twitter,” you gotta take what you can get.
Goodlatte (the bad one) has yet to publicly respond to Goodlatte’s (the good one) good tweets, but it’s safe to say Thanksgiving at the Goodlatte home this year is gonna be a whole lot of fun.
