Kavanaugh Accuser Julie Swetnick Gives Her First On-Air Interview

Julie Swetnick, the third woman to publicly accuse Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct, has become the first of his accusers to give a televised interview. She spoke to Showtime’s The Circus about Kavanaugh’s confirmation process and her alleged experiences with him in the early 1980s.

“Brett Kavanaugh is going for a seat where he’s going to have that seat on the Supreme Court for the rest of his life,” Swetnick explained in a clip from the interview which was released Thursday morning.

If he’s gonna have that seat legitimately, all of these things should be investigated. Because from what I experienced first hand, I don’t think he belongs on the Supreme Court.

Swetnick’s appearance came one day after attorney Michael Avenatti released her name and a sworn declaration in which she described going to a number of parties with Kavanaugh in the early 80s. There, she claimed, she saw him engage in sexually “inappropriate” behavior with women—including “‘grinding’ against girls, and attempting to remove or shift girls’ clothing to expose private body parts”—and alleged he he was “present” at her gang rape in approximately 1982.

Kavanaugh has denied all the allegations made against him by Swetnick, as well as former Yale classmate Deborah Ramirez, and Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. Ford is set to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday that Kavanaugh assaulted her during a house party when the pair were in high school.
