Kellyanne Conway Dismisses Brett Kavanaugh Allegations as 'Vast Left-Wing Conspiracy'

Top White House adviser Kellyanne Conway dismissed the growing number of women who have accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault on Monday, telling CBS This Morning they seemed like a fabricated narrative by Democrats, rather than credible allegations of wrongdoing.

Conway’s appearance came the morning after the New Yorker published claims by a woman named Deborah Ramirez who accused Kavanaugh of having thrust his penis in front of her face without her consent during a drinking game when they were both attending Yale University in the early 1980s.

“This is starting to feel like a vast left-wing conspiracy,” Conway said, echoing Hillary Clinton’s 1998 claim that Republicans were engaged in a “vast right-wing conspiracy” against her husband, President Bill Clinton.

“I know there’s pent-up demand for women to get their day, women who have been sexually harassed and sexually assaulted, and I personally am very aggrieved for all of them,” Conway continued. “But we cannot put decades of pent-up demand for women to feel whole on one man’s shoulders. What exactly is the standard for ruining one man’s life based on decades of allegations that have nothing to do with him?”

It’s unclear how Conway made the leap from “Brett Kavanaugh allegedly held Christine Blasey Ford down and tried to rip off her clothes” and “Brett Kavanaugh allegedly shoved his penis in Deborah Ramirez’s face in the middle of a dorm room drinking game” to “allegations that have nothing to do with him.”

“I just don’t think one man’s shoulders should bear decades of the #MeToo movement,” Conway said, which is a pretty weird thing to say about someone whose shoulders are being credibly accused of sexual assault.

“I take these allegations very seriously, as does the president,” Conway added, contrary to literally everything she’d said just moments before.

Ford is scheduled to appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday to testify about her claims against Kavanaugh. Ramirez is not currently scheduled to appear.
