Lawyer For Roy Moore Accuser Delivers Blistering Takedown of Sean Hannity
Fox News host Sean Hannity may still be smarting from the blistering rejection letter he received from Paula Cobia, a lawyer representing one of the women who has accused Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore of sexual harassment.
Hannity, who has continuously and unabashedly defended Moore, invited the woman, Gloria Deason, on his show to discuss her allegations. His producer, Alyssa Moni, emailed Cobia to set up the interview. Cobia’s response, screenshots of which were obtained by IR.net’s Ed Krassenstein, was so brutal it wouldn’t surprise me if Hannity decided to smash a Keurig to release his rage.
“Mr. Hannity has belittled, defamed, and engaged in an on-air intimidation campaign against the victims of Mr. Moore. He is totally uninterested in discovering the truth,” Cobia wrote. “He gave Mr. Moore a lazy, softball interview which his own panel did not find credible. In fact, the panel mocked Mr. Moore over his inconsistencies and lies.”
“It is laughable to assume that Mr. Hannity is capable of conducting a fair and balanced interview,” she continued. “He is not known for journalistic integrity. He is merely seeking an opportunity to publicly attack and further defame Mr. Moore’s vulnerable victims.”
Deason is one of the four women who accused Moore of unwanted sexual contact in The Washington Post’s initial bombshell report about the Republican candiate. Specifically, Deason said that Moore pursued her when she was 18 and he was 32. In The Post’s story she said Moore, who was an assistant district attorney at the time, also gave her alcohol despite her being underage.
Cobia seems to have a way with words. In a statement released just after The Post’s story was published, Cobia excoriated Moore’s defenders and people who doubted Deason’s story:
For those critical of these 4 women for not voluntarily coming forward earlier, ask yourselves what difference it would have made. Republicans in Alabama, the Christian conservatives of the Deep South, are saying that they don’t care if Roy Moore’s predatory sexual child pursuits are true. It’s no big deal to them that Moore abused his position of power as a district attorney and committed crimes against teenage women.
I’d hire her.
