Louisiana Teacher Handcuffed and Jailed for Asking About Unequal Pay at School Board Meeting
On Monday, Louisiana teacher Deyshia Hargrave attended a local school board meeting to ask why the local superintendent was receiving a pay raise while educators and support staff were not.
“We work very hard with very little,” Hargrave said. “Teachers, like myself, are not getting a dime.”
Shortly after raising the issue, Hargrave was cut off from speaking, escorted from the room by a city marshal, and then promptly handcuffed on the floor and jailed. The incident has prompted outrage across the country.
