Miss Texas Wins America's Heart With This Withering Takedown of Donald Trump
Last night, Cara Mund, aka Miss North Dakota, was crowned Miss America 2018, but it seems the real MVP was the pageant’s representative from Texas.
During the Q&A portion of the pageant, which included topics like the Paris Agreement and Donald Trump’s ties to Russia, judge Jess Cagle—editorial director of People and Entertainment Weekly —asked Miss Texas, aka Morgana Wood, a question about Charlottesville. Did she think there actually were “fine people,” as Trump put it, on both sides of the Charlottesville terror?
The question seemed suited to give someone a slam dunk (or reveal them as racist!), but Wood’s response was strong and pointed:
I think that the white supremacist issue, it was very obvious, that it was a terrorist attack. And I think that President Donald Trump should’ve made a statement earlier addressing the fact, and in making sure all Americans feel safe in this country. That is the number one issue right now.
Perfect.
Wood was the fourth runner up in last night’s event, but number one in America’s heart.
