Mitch McConnell Would Love It if People Stopped Pointing Out His Shameless Hypocrisy

To hear Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell tell it, the clear victim of Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy’s resignation isn’t women or LGBTQ people or anyone else whose civil rights are now in even greater jeopardy from the impending swing towards a solidly far-right court. No, the chief victim is poor Mitch himself.

McConnell has made it clear that he is, quite simply, shocked and offended at the mere suggestion that he might be playing politics with something as important as a vacancy on the Supreme Court, which he has pledged to fill before this year’s midterm elections in November.

“This is not 2016,” Mr. McConnell moaned on Thursday, after pretty much everyone mentioned that one time that he’d stolen a Supreme Court seat from President Obama. “There aren’t the final months of a second-term constitutionally lame duck presidency with a presidential election fast approaching. We’re right in the middle of this president’s very first term.”

New York Times reporter Carl Hulse wrote that this was an instance of McConnell displaying an unusual level of pique.

To which I say: Fuck off Mitch!!!

Everyone knows McConnell shafted Merrick Garland simply because he has no shame and knew he’d get away with it. He even bragged about blocking Garland, calling it the “most consequential decision” of his career. He should just own that! Mitch, admit that you did it because you want your guys, and not their guys, and that’s how it works. (Maybe the Democrats could do that too sometime??)

It’s unsavory, but it’s better than this “how DARE you impugn my integrity” bullshit McConnell seems committed to. You’re not the victim here, pal. You’re the brains behind one of the most successful political coups in American history.

If anyone should be insulted it’s us. Does McConnell really think we’re this stupid? (Well…probably.)
