Of course, The Simpsons predicted Donald Trump would be a terrible president 15 years ago
For a certain set of people The Simpsons, like Shakespeare, is universal. It’s very difficult to find a topic or cultural figure the show has not touched on at one point or another.
And so it’s no surprise that the show predicted a Donald Trump presidency back in 2000.
In the season 11 episode “Bart to the Future,” a trip to a Native American casino leads to Bart being shown a vision of the year 2030. Bart is a deadbeat, but Lisa is “proud to be America’s first straight female President.”
The money part of this clip is the Cabinet meeting in the Oval Office where Lisa tries to discern how much trouble the country is in thanks to her predecessor, Donald Trump. Here’s the rest of the Trump-related parts of the clip.
SECRETARY MILHOUSE VAN HOUTEN: Well, remember when the last administration decided to invest in our nation’s children? Big mistake.
CABINET MEMBER: The Balanced Breakfast Program just created a generation of ultra-strong super-criminals.
MILHOUSE: And Midnight Basketball taught them to function without sleep.
So, if the Simpsons are any indication, Trump will be removed from office sometime in 2030—a non-election year—after a series of disastrous decisions leaves the country “broke.” Sounds about right.
