Paul Manafort Is Now Paul Man-in-Jail

Paul Manafort, Donald Trump’s former campaign manager, left a DC courtroom on Friday on his way to jail.

Manafort—currently awaiting trail for money laundering and foreign lobbying violations as a result of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation—had his bail revoked by federal Judge Amy Berman Jackson, after she saw evidence of Manafort’s effort to tamper with witness testimony ahead of his court date (he also faces new criminal charges for the tampering, because, duh, extremely illegal).

Manafort had, until Friday, been under house arrest ahead of his fall trial date.

According to Politico’s Kelly Cohen, Manafort simply waved to his wife, who had joined him in the courtroom, before he was led away.

Just hours before Jackson sent Manafort away, Trump attempted (yet again) to downplay his role in the 2016 election. During a truly deranged, seemingly impromptu press gaggle on the White House lawn, the president insisted that Manafort had “nothing to do with our campaign,” having worked for him for “what, 49 days or something?”

Manafort had actually worked on the Trump election effort for nearly half a year, was the campaign manager, and ran Trump’s Republican National Convention.

Anyway, now Paul Manafort—a bad and creepy dude—is in jail, and you’re here reading this blog.

Update, 1:42 p.m.: Trump has, predictably, weighed in on Twitter.
