Photos: Oscar Winner Lupita Nyong'o Looking Like She Just Fell From Heaven
Lupita Nyong’o is a first time Oscar-nominee for her role as Patsey in 12 Years a Slave — and it’s also her first film role, ever.
Sunday, March 2, she also took home her first Academy Award, for best supporting actress. This makes her the first Mexican-born actress to ever win an Oscar.
And like she’s done all awards season, Nyong’o looked like a red carpet veteran at the Oscars on Sunday.
Wearing a custom Prada light blue silk georgette gown, she appeared to float down the red carpet and left us at home watching, just breathless.
The gold and diamond headband, earrings and bracelet were all from Fred Leighton.
Nyong’o was born in Mexico City, Mexico to Kenyan parents in 1983. She has dual Kenyan and Mexican citizenship.
She is the fourth Mexican-born actress to be nominated for an Oscar, after Katy Jurado for Broken Lance (1954), Salma Hayek for Frida (2002) and Adriana Barraza for Babel (2006).
After this awards season, it’s about time she takes home the most prestigious of the bunch.
