Santa Fe Shooting Survivor Sums Up America's Gun Crisis in a Single Devastating Comment
As more terrible details emerge from the mass shooting at Santa Fe High School near Houston on Friday, America is once again faced with the inescapable fact that school shootings are just part of the landscape.
It’s a sickening reality that a Santa Fe student who survived the attack named Paige summed up with weary frankness in an interview with local ABC affiliate KTRK.
“I was very, very scared,” she said. “I had to have someone keep me calm, I managed to keep calm through it all. There was another girl who was just freaking out. They were struggling really hard to keep her calm. It was really scary.”
When asked whether she was surprised by the attack, she said:
It’s been happening everywhere. I’ve always kind of felt like eventually it was going to happen here too. I wasn’t surprised, I was just scared.
