Sick of Starbucks? This poop-themed café in South Korea may be for you.
Starbucks has quite thoroughly invaded the coffee scenes in North America and beyond, but this coffeeshop in Seoul, South Korea has a taste and look you’re probably never going to get Stateside: poop.
LEXI, an American-born photographer living in Seoul recently stumbled upon the Ddo-ong Café (또옹카페) located in the Ssamziegil shopping center. Like many cafés, Ddo-ong has become a hotspot for people looking to relax, study, and meet up with friends over a hot cup of coffee. It’s just that the coffee here is often served in mugs shaped like toilets.
“To be honest, I was a little disappointed with the normality of it all,” LEXI lamented in her blog. “I suppose I was hoping for more of a shock factor.”
Apparently, the toilet mugs are only available upon request and only for people purchasing hot drinks like lattes. Drinks aside, the cafe offers a wide assortment of poop-shaped pastries filled with red bean paste, chocolate, or hazelnut cream.
