Sorry Donald Trump, new London Mayor Sadiq Khan doesn't want to be the 'exception' to your Muslim ban
Donald Trump wants to ban Muslims from traveling to the U.S. But not you, newly-elected London Mayor Sadiq Khan. You’re one of the good ones.
Trump suggested there was room in his travel ban for a Khan-sized loophole after the Muslim mayor told Time he wanted to travel to the U.S. before a potential Trump presidency, as he might not be allowed after.
“There will always be exceptions,” Trump said, according to the New York Times. “If he does a good job and frankly if he does a great job, that would be a terrific thing.”
So all a Muslim has to do in order to be allowed to travel to the U.S. is be elected the mayor of one of the most important cities in the world? Khan pointed out how silly that was in his response.
“This isn’t just about me—it’s about my friends, my family and everyone who comes from a background similar to mine, anywhere in the world,” Khan said, according to the BBC.
He went on to criticize Trump’s entire definition of Islam, saying “Donald Trump’s ignorant view of Islam could make both our countries less safe—it risks alienating mainstream Muslims around the world and plays in to the hands of the extremists.”
If we go by the Trump criticism playbook, that means it’s about time for Donald Trump to fire back with a juvenile insult. Who says the man’s unpredictable?
