Steve Bannon Goes on TV to Remind Us That He Is a Raging Bigot

Former presidential adviser Steve Bannon is back in the news nearly one month after he was deposed from his White House position in August.

In his first televised interview since the firing, Bannon wasted little time reminding everyone just how much he sucked, and why the world is almost certainly a better place with him no longer skulking through the West Wing.

Here he is, for instance, talking about the Catholic Church—his own church—and its opposition to his anti-immigrant policies (emphasis mine):

The Catholic Church has been terrible about this.
The bishops have been terrible about this. By the way, you know why? You know why? Because unable to really— to— to— to come to grips with the problems in the Church, they need illegal aliens, they need illegal aliens to fill the churches. That’s— it’s obvious on the face of it. That’s what— the entire Catholic Bishops condemn him.
They have— they have an economic interest. They have an economic interest in unlimited immigration, unlimited illegal immigration.

Hmmm. But Bannon wasn’t quite done yet:

I totally respect the Pope and I totally respect the Catholic Bishops and cardinals on doctrine. This is not about doctrine. This is about the sovereignty of a nation. And in that regard, they’re just another guy with an opinion.

Here is another opinion from a book Bannon has probably seen a few times: “Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.”

Steve—fuck you.
