#StrandedInUS: America and the world open their doors to the French
As Parisians sought to give each other safety and shelter in the hours following Friday’s attacks, many around the world opened their arms to French citizens who could not return to their home country.
In a mirror image of the #PorteOuverte hashtag which people in Paris used to tell each other where those who had been left stranded by the attacks could find a place to stay, hashtags like “#StrandedInUS” and “#StrandedInCanada” began popping up for French people who had been left adrift by canceled flights back home.
As of Saturday morning, French airports were staying open, meaning that the people stuck in other countries could possibly go home soon.
