Texas' Unhinged Lt. Governor Blames CNN, MSNBC For Mollie Tibbetts' Death

The death of Iowa college student Mollie Tibbetts, allegedly at the hands of an undocumented immigrant, is an unmitigated tragedy made all the more upsetting due to vile attempts by politicians, pundits, and outright racists to leverage it for their own bigoted agendas.

Joining that ignominious list of sleaze-bags on Thursday was Texas lieutenant governor and committed garbage person Dan Patrick, who knows just who is really to blame for Tibbetts’ death: The media and Democrats.

“The CNNs, MSNBCs, most of the print media in this country, and Democrats are all accomplices in the death of this young girl and the death of everyone else,” Patrick declared to Fox News. (Why is Fox News giving the lieutenant governor of Texas a national platform to comment on the death of a young woman in Iowa? Who knows!)

Patrick even took a shot at Fox News host Geraldo Rivera.

“I’ve never met the guy,” Patrick continued. “Seems like he has a good heart. Y’know, I saw him on here Fox saying, ‘I feel badly about this but…’ There is no ‘but.’”

He even proposed a debate with Rivera next month hosted by the extremely reasonable, totally unbiased Sean Hannity, which Rivera accepted in a response on Twitter:

Never mind the fact that Tibbetts’ own family members have decried using their relative’s death as a means to stoke resentment, Patrick nevertheless has once again found a way to make a terrible situation even worse through overt politicization, fear-mongering, and self promotion, which he will now reap the benefits from if this debate actually happens. Instead of a debate, we all would be a lot better off if Patrick had just gotten a hearty, Texas-sized fuck you.
