Thank you, Hillary Clinton: 19 photos from her decades of public service

Last night, Hillary Clinton lost the presidency after an incredibly long and storied career of public service. She has been a United States senator, a first lady, the Secretary of State, but above all, she has endured. For decades, she has faced relentless attacks on not only her beliefs and credibility but her gender, but she has continued to work tirelessly on behalf of the American people.

“I have spent my entire adult life fighting for what I believe in,” Clinton said in her concession speech today. “Never stop believing that fighting for what’s right is worth it.”

And what she believes in, historically, has helped even the weakest among us. She has spent 40 years fighting for children and for healthcare. She helped expand family leave for members of the military. And she constantly reminded us that “women’s rights are human rights.”

We have tremendous gratitude for what her campaign and her vocal support of women’s rights has meant to this country, and particularly to women and girls. Here are 18 photos of Hillary Clinton dating all the way back through her long history of public service, and one from when she was no older than many of the little girls she’s inspired this year. Thank you for everything you’ve done for us.
