The person running Donald Trump's campaign in a crucial Colorado county is 12 years old

There are times it seems as though Donald Trump’s campaign is being run by 12-year-olds. In at least one Colorado county, that’s what’s actually happening.

A woman named Laurel Imer is listed as the field coordinator for the Trump campaign in Jefferson County, a suburb of Denver. But her 12-year-old son, Weston, is the one actually running the show, according to local TV station KDVR.

KDVR reports that Weston runs the Trump field office in Jefferson County, the fourth-most populous county in Colorado. (The county supported Barack Obama in both the 2008 and 2012 elections.) He has been coordinating volunteers all summer and will continue to do so until he has to return to school in September.

“Get involved,” Weston told KDVR. “That’s what I’m going to say. Get involved. Kids need to be educated.”

Weston’s had an interesting summer, even getting to chat with Trump running mate Mike Pence at one point. The Denver Channel reports he was invited to meet the Indiana governor at a local town hall after asking him about the Common Core curriculum.

Weston also runs the Facebook group Colorado Kids for Trump, where he sells T-Shirts and reposts conservative memes from other pro-Trump Facebook groups.

Of all the local TV news channels that have reported on Weston’s tenure as manager, none seem to have asked him why he supports Trump. We reached out to Weston’s mother this morning to see if she and her son would be willing to tell us more about his job. We have not heard back yet.

One thing we do know is that Weston is taking a long-term view on the campaign. The Trump campaign is just a stepping-stone to the White House in the 2040 election.

“Watch for me – 2040,” he told KDVR. “And Barron Trump, if you are watching, in 2040 I’ll take you as my running mate.”

Sorry, but this is not the face of a child being raised to be vice president.
