The 86th edition of the Oscars will broadcast this Sunday. Without having any insight as to who the Academy will pick, the safe assumption is to say that the majority of the winners will be white. How do we know this? Historical precedent. That, and the fact that the membership of the Academy Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is comprised largely of white men over the age of 62. But do these demographics affect the awards? We looked at some figures to answer this question.
