The 'Sax Of Shaolin' Makes Thousands Busking in the Subway | Undercurrent

Could you leave your conventional career behind in order to pursue your dreams? In this episode of Undercurrent, we profile Ming, who goes by the “Sax of Shaolin” when he performs in New York City’s subway system.

Ming was born in Singapore and raised in Minnesota before moving to New York to pursue his passion for music. Every day he goes out with the goal of making $100 and plays his trusted alto saxophone—while dodging tourists and swapping cars on the L train—until he gets there.

“I want to dispel the notion that busking is annoying,” he says. “It can brighten your day, that after I leave, you’re glad it happened.”
