This black woman painted her entire body white in a bold protest of police killings and white supremacy

On Wednesday night, Tashala Dangel Geyer, a black woman from Daytona Beach, brought home a can of paint from Home Depot, stripped naked, and began painting her body chalk white. Halfway through the art project, she logged onto Facebook and began to live stream herself while explaining that she was painting her skin to protect herself from the police.

“Black lives matter, Chinese lives matter, but most important—white lives matter. But you know what? Bitch when I get pulled over by the police, bitch I ain’t got to do ‘hands up; don’t shoot,'” Geyer says in the video. “They ain’t gon’ fuck with me, you know why? Cause I’m white.”

The tone of the video is both grim and mockingly light-hearted while commenting directly on the recent police killings of black people like Terrence Crutcher and Keith Lamont Scott. When she gets pulled over by the police, Geyer muses, she’ll be certain to make a point of performing her whiteness so as to make sure that she doesn’t end up shot.

“Bitch ain’t gon’ shoot me. I get pulled over [by the police],” Geyer says as she applies multiple layers of paint to herself. “I’m listening to Luke Bryan, Sam Hunt, Dierks Bentley, Florida Georgia Line—all the white people music.”

In the hours after Geyer first streamed the video, both Facebook and YouTube allegedly began pulling it down presumably because it their rules regarding nudity. While Facebook ultimately restored the clip to her page it to her page, by then, snippets of the 40-minute long performance to begin popping up across other sites like Instagram.

As the video progresses, Geyer repeatedly implores viewers to share her “tip” in hopes that they too might be take advantage of her one simple trick to avoid being killed by the police. But every single time she thinks she’s close to being done covering up her blackness, she finds yet another “nigga spot’—a patch of exposed brown skin—that she has to rush to hide.

“You know what happens to the white man that was tussling and wrestling with the police? He got shot with a bean bag, bitch,” she explains, lathering her back in wall paint. “I’d rather get shot with a bean bag than an AK-47.”
