This Tumblr pairs Jenna Maroney one-liners with Donald Trump photos and it's almost too accurate
On 30 Rock, Jenna Maroney (played by comedian Jane Krakowski) was a rich, minimally talented, entitled actress, lacking self-awareness and a filter. Donald Trump is a self-centered billionaire and occasional reality television star, lacking the same. The only difference is that, while Maroney was a fictional character on television, Trump is currently one of our presidential nominees.
Was Jenna Maroney loosely based on Donald Trump? Did Donald Trump steal his ridiculous campaign one-liners from Jenna Maroney? Or is the Republican Party really a sketch comedy written and produced by Tina Fey? So. Many. Questions.
Well, the moment that we didn’t know we were waiting for has finally come—the two have become one on a Tumblr page titled Donald Maroney.
So far, there are only 18 posts, as the site just launched yesterday. It features real quotes from Maroney on 30 Rock accompanied by photos in which it looks like Donald Trump could actually be saying them. Quickly, we realize just how much Trump and Maroney do in fact talk about the same things: themselves, Barack Obama, themselves, babies, themselves.
Donald Maroney is so uncannily accurate that, sure we’re laughing and it’s hilarious, but who exactly is the joke on? America? But don’t think about it too much—this is comedy.
