Trump Insists He Has 'A Great Heart' for the DACA Recipients He Just Betrayed
Despite vowing to remove the federal protections shielding some 800,000 undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children from deportation, President Donald Trump insisted on Tuesday that he has “a great love” for the DACA recipients whose lives he is throwing into chaos and danger.
“I have a great heart for the folks we’re talking about,” Trump declared. He then added, nonsensically, “People think in terms of children, but they’re really young adults. I have a love for these people.”
Trump went on to insist that, despite the fact that he is responsible for imperiling DACA participants, this whole mess is actually the legislative branch’s problem, and, hey, lots of luck folks!
“Hopefully, now Congress will be able to help them, and do it properly,” Trump said. “And I can tell you that speaking with members of Congress they want to be able to do something and do it right.”
The buck, evidently, stops over there.
“I think it’s going to work out very well,” Trump concluded. “And long term it’s going to be the right solution.”
I doubt it.
