Trump Lies About Witnessing ICE ‘Liberating’ Towns from Gangs

Just like Donald Trump lied about seeing American Muslims “cheering” in New Jersey on 9/11, and just like he lies about everything else, on Saturday, the president made up a story about witnessing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers “liberating” towns from MS-13 gang control.

With hundreds of thousands of people protesting in cities and towns all over the U.S. on Saturday to deliver the message that #FamiliesBelongTogether, Trump needed to distract his base from the fact that his regime has ripped migrant families apart and thrown children into cages. Trump loves to appear “tough” on crime, as long as it affects people of color.

“The Democrats are making a strong push to abolish ICE, one of the smartest, toughest and most spirited law enforcement groups of men and women that I have ever seen,” Trump tweeted from his New Jersey golf club, where he traveled to avoid massive protests outside the White House. “I have watched ICE liberate towns from the grasp of MS-13 & clean out the toughest of situations. They are great!”

In a follow-up tweet, Trump urged ICE employees not to lose their “spirit,” and he again dehumanized migrants by calling them “the worst criminal elements.”

“The radical left Dems want you out,” he tweeted, referring to ICE employees. “Next it will be all police. Zero chance, It will never happen!” he lied again.

According to the Toronto Star, which like other media outlets continues to track Trump’s lies, the president has stepped up the frequency of his lying in recent days. The newspaper said that last week, the number of Trump’s lies “skyrocketed.” Trump told 103 lies in seven days, an average of 15 per day (although the Star labels these lies as “false claims”). Previously, his one-week record had been 60.

Trump’s fabrication about Democrats wanting to abolish police forces across the country is similar to his repeated claims that Democrats also want to see “open borders.”

“MS-13 gang members are truly, and you’ve heard me say it, animals—and yet Nancy Pelosi and Washington Democrats continue to protect them and to push for open borders,” Trump said two weeks ago in a weekly address. He has repeated that lie often since then.

Last month, White House adviser Stephen Miller acknowledged the Trump regime would step up its tough talk on MS-13 and immigration ahead of the upcoming midterm elections in November.
