Trump Praises NASCAR Fans for Standing for National Anthem, Area Blogger Praises Herself for Not Drinking Yet Today

In an address at the White House on Monday, President Donald Trump praised NASCAR fans for standing up for the national anthem at sporting events.

“At every NASCAR race, you will see thousands of patriotic Americans—from the grandstands to the pit stalls—proudly waving our flag and roaring with joy at the words, ‘Start your engines,’” Trump told the crowd. “And I will tell you, one thing I know about NASCAR, they do indeed stand for the playing of the National Anthem.”

He added: “Somebody said, ‘Maybe you shouldn’t say that. That’ll be controversial.’ I said, that’s OK. NASCAR’s not going to mind it at all. Right, fellas?”

Hmm, what possible significance could this remark, delivered by the president to (what I assume was) an overwhelmingly white crowd, have?
