Trump Reportedly Watches Tape of His Own Rallies Like a Maniac
Donald Trump’s favorite part of being president, even as everything else goes to hell, has always been to speak to crowds of thousands of his adoring fans. He likes it so much, in fact, that he reportedly watches replays from his rallies like a maniac.
Axios reports:
Trump commentates as he watches, according to sources who’ve sat with him and viewed replays on his TiVo, which is pre-loaded with his favorites on the large TV in the private dining room adjoining the Oval Office. When watching replays, Trump will interject commentary, reveling in his most controversial lines. “Wait for it. … See what I did there?” he’ll say.
They think I’m not going to call human beings “animals,” but then BOOM! I do!
This is not exactly shocking. Trump’s obsession with both television and himself is well-documented, and what better way to combine those two favorite pastimes than to watch himself bloviate for an hour? Earlier this year at CPAC, he pointed at a picture of himself and said, “I’d love to watch that guy speak.”
According to Axios, Trump also reportedly “loved to relive his debate performances against Hillary Clinton” when he first took office. His favorite parts, the site writes, were when he invited four women who had been allegedly sexually harassed or assaulted by Bill Clinton to the second presidential debate, and when he responded to a Clinton jibe about her relief that Trump wasn’t “in charge of law in our country” (that didn’t age well) with “Because you’d be in jail.”
“He thinks it’s the greatest thing that ever happened in the history of presidential debates,” a source told Axios. Sure thing, man.
