President Trump Has Spent 100 Days at One of His Golf Clubs

President Donald Trump has finally accomplished something noteworthy in his more than 400 days in office: He’s spent 100 days at one of his own golf clubs.

The shameful milestone comes as Trump prepares to host a fundraiser for his own “campaign” and the Republican National Committee on Saturday at his Mar–a–Lago estate in Palm Beach, FL. A headline from the Palm Beach Post Saturday morning noted Trump’s accomplishments so far in the day: “Three hours of golf, one tweet and GOP fundraiser lunch.”

According to CNN, Trump has visited four golf clubs he owns while serving as president: the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, FL; the Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter, FL; the Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, VA; and the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, NJ. And he’s done so on 25% of his days in office.

“Trump’s golf habit has drawn incredible scrutiny in his first year in office, with watchdog groups raising questions about whether his endorsement of his own properties violates federal law, and reporters standing outside the gates of his courses hoping to confirm that Trump is hitting the links,” CNN stated.

For years, Trump vociferously attacked former President Barack Obama on Twitter on the issue of golf. “Can you believe that, with all of the problems and difficulties facing the U.S., President Obama spent the day playing golf. Worse than Carter,” Trump tweeted in October 2014.

He also claimed while campaigning for the presidency that he wouldn’t “have time to go play golf.”

At the Republican fundraiser, a do–over for one that was scrapped during the federal government shutdown last January, guests can attend a reception with Trump for $2,700 a person, a dinner for $25,000, or both, plus a photo, for $50,000 a person.

As House Intelligence Committee Ranking Member Adam Schiff pointed out, Trump and his family aren’t draining the swamp, “they’re licensing it, and branding it with great big gold letters.”
